Rough Riders support Honor Flight through providing Guardians and meeting returning flights to welcome them home. Your sponsorship will sponsor a Rough Rider Honor Flight Guardian and support the Rough Riders Charitable mission. Guardians pay their own way, airfare and hotel. Guardians are essential to the success of the Honor Flight Network Program. Without our guardians, we would not be able to carry out the dreams of so many veterans, enabling them to see the memorials built in their honor. On each mission Guardians to help push the Vet in a wheelchair throughout the day. We rely on our guardians to help make this trip as memorable as possible for our Veterans. As a guardian, you will help escort a Veteran during the day from early morning send-off to the return home. Guardians must be willing and able to walk long distances, assist the Veteran, experience possible heat, cold, wetness, and support a 20+ hour day. Honor Flight Mission: To transport America’s Veterans to Washington, DC to visit those memorials dedicated to honor the service and sacrifices of themselves and their friends. Honor Flight Network is a non-profit organization created solely to honor America’s veterans for all their sacrifices. We transport our heroes to Washington, D.C. to visit and reflect at their memorials. Top priority is given to the senior veterans – World War II survivors, along with those other veterans who may be terminally ill. Of all of the wars in recent memory, it was World War II that truly threatened our very existence as a nation—and as a culturally diverse, free society. According to the Department of Veterans Affairs, an estimated 640 WWII veterans die each day. Our time to express our thanks to these brave men and women is running out.
