Watch the FOX 13 Feature →About the MuseumThe 1st U.S. Volunteer Cavalry Regiment – Rough Riders, Inc. was founded in 1978 to create and perpetuate a living memorial to the unique accomplishments of President Theodore Roosevelt and the members of the original 1st U.S. Volunteer Cavalry Regiment. Our Regimental Headquarters at 601 N. 19th Street, Tampa, houses the Museum, meeting facilities, our float barn, and administrative offices. The Museum is a free resource for students, historians, veterans, and the general public — with guided tours led by our knowledgeable volunteer staff. It is the intent of the members of this organization to develop ways to celebrate this great moment in American History; to collect and display artifacts of the era; to educate and emphasize to generations to come the importance of this feat by military forces; and to create other memorials as shall be appropriate from time to time. The CollectionOur collection spans the full arc of the Spanish-American War era — from the weapons carried into battle to the uniforms worn on San Juan Hill, from contemporary photographs and documents to rare books and publications from the period.
